Business Opportunity: 

Healthy Girls was founded 5 years ago by 3 Chesapeake moms concerned about the self-esteem and obesity problems they were seeing in young girls.  They have 5 girls of their own between the 3 of them.  The classes were started in a small, back room at Dillard's in MacArthur Center, but immediately attracted a very loyal following.  The classes consisted of exercise, nutritional education and "talk time" where the girls are led on a discussion path about various subjects such as how to attract and be a good friend, real beauty - what it is and how to find it within yourself, and stress less - what stress does to your body and how to control it.  The girls were empowered by the classes and the feedback was phenomenal from parents and teachers alike, even being deemed a "necessity" by a judge in a custody battle.  Four years ago, the founders of Healthy Girls leased an old house on Village Street in Portsmouth, painted it loud, wild colors with inspirational quotes all over the walls and claimed it as their "clubhouse."  This is where classes continue today.

The women put together a DVD kit that includes a 30-minute exercise DVD, an exercise ball and pump and a book on nutrition that includes a food journal, so that that girls could "take Healthy Girls home" with them.  This too was a success locally and, as it turned out, nationally.  As an unplanned benefit, Healthy Girls started attracting attention on the national front, including a lot of calls and emails inquiring about Healthy Girls classes in other areas of the country.  From those inquiries, a plan was hatched - to bring Healthy Girls classes and a business opportunity to women everywhere.  Hence, the DBA Network was born.  This off-shoot of Healthy Girls developed the "BinaB" - "Business in a Box" concept that includes a HUGE curriculum, a teacher training video and an extremely comprehensive business and marketing section. 

 Additionally, Healthy Girls will be offering  teleseminars open to the public on such subjects as:  protecting your child on the internet, how to speak positive messages to your daughter, how to talk to your daughter about sex, how to recognize depression in your girl, allergies and what to do about them, the HPPV virus, and many more.
